How He Got So Good
Davis was introduced to boxing when his father, Gervonta Sr. Took him and his brother to a gym while they were growing up. Gervonta Jr. started training there when he was nine years old. And two months later, he won the first tournament that he entered. It became evident very early on that this young man had an extraordinary gift for boxing. He continued to win every match he participated in and by the time he turned 16 years old. Gervonta Davis had compiled a record of 87-9 with 76 knockouts. His parents decided it would be best for him to make the transition from amateur competitions to professional ones at that point.

Davis is only twenty years old and has already accomplished an incredible amount. Just two years ago, he was a promising amateur with a bright future. Who had won the 2016 National Golden Gloves tournament. That same year he also won gold medals at the U.S. Olympic Trials and at the World Championships.
