Alienware Aurora 2019 Review: A Solid Gaming PC
A few years ago, I had the opportunity to review the Alienware Aurora R5, and I was thoroughly impressed with its performance and design. The Alienware Aurora R5 took second place in my list of favorite gaming PCs under $2,000 (the #1 pick was the SkyTech Archangel ). Now that Alienware has released the Alienware Aurora 2019, how does it compare? Read on to find out!
Design & Features
If you’re looking for a solid gaming PC, then Alienware is likely a familiar name. That’s because Alienware is one of a handful of first-tier gaming PC manufacturers. And its most recent creation is no exception. The Alienware Aurora 2019 offers top-of-the-line graphics and an exceptional processor to fuel your favorite games as well as plenty of performance to keep it running smoothly in all other applications. If you can stomach its $1,000 price tag, it may be worth considering. Let’s take a closer look at what Alienware has done with its latest creation…
Performance & Benchmarks
The Alienware Aurora 2019 is easily one of best gaming PCs available today, with a processor that’s more than capable of giving you smooth gameplay on Ultra settings in any game. Thanks to its powerful 6-core Intel Core i9-9900K processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card (with 8GB GDDR6 VRAM), it delivered an impressive score of 26,500 points in 3DMark Fire Strike benchmark tests. We saw frame rates jump up to about 70fps when playing Destiny 2 on High settings and hitting at least 60fps even with everything cranked all the way up for Middle Earth: Shadow of War.
Final Thoughts
The Alienware Aurora is a powerful gaming desktop that can help you take on any challenge. With its high-end AMD Threadripper CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card, it’s a top choice for serious gamers looking to crank up their settings. While there are cheaper gaming PCs out there with similar specs, they lack the design touches that really make a computer look like something out of an action movie. If you want something more than just your average black box under your desk, you’ll get your money’s worth from an Alienware machine like these.
Pros and Cons
There are some good things about ienware aurora 2019 that give it an edge in its category. It comes with a powerful 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card. The 1920 x 1080 display is decent enough, but nothing spectacular. However, we were disappointed by ienware aurora 2019’s poor sound quality. Though there’s a subwoofer and two speakers, their audio quality was less than ideal, making it hard to hear dialogue on movies and TV shows. Despite these flaws, though, it’s still a very capable gaming computer that provides plenty of bang for your buck.
Closing thoughts
Is it a solid gaming PC? Sure. Is it a worthy upgrade? If you’re an avid gamer, it could be. The bottom line is that Alienware has built itself a good gaming computer, with decent hardware and an intuitive software interface. However, they are held back by their own bloatware and inconsistent design choices in places like cooling and expansion space—where its bigger brother thrives. At nearly double its price (and still not offering significantly better performance) there are plenty of other alternatives out there if you’re looking for a great mid-range gaming desktop… but if you want something Alienware to call your own then Ienware aurora 2019 is for you!
